SCROLL

Where It All Began

In 2018, founder Adrian Ballesta stood on the rooftop of the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, watching the sunset gild the Art Deco spire of the Eastern Columbia Building. A third-generation metalworker from a family of Barcelona ironmongers, Adrian had spent a decade restoring wrought-iron balconies and brass fixtures across Europe. But Los Angeles — with its cinematic light, its architectural audacity, its celebration of craft — called to him differently.

He sold his workshop in Barcelona, packed his tools, and moved to a 2,000-square-foot industrial loft in the Arts District. There, with a single forge, a vintage English wheel, and a notebook full of sketches inspired by the Bradbury Building, the Pantages Theatre, and the Griffith Observatory, BALLESTA METAL was born.

Adrian's vision was uncompromising: every piece — whether a brass handrail, a gold-leaf elevator door, or an Art Deco facade panel — would be made as if it were destined for a Hollywood palace. "We don't build railings," he says. "We build the railing that a movie star would grip before walking into a ballroom." Today, that philosophy drives a studio of 30+ master craftsmen, producing custom metalwork for luxury residences, five-star hotels, and landmark commercial spaces across Southern California and beyond.

Where Tradition Meets Technology

Every piece that leaves our studio passes through the hands of masters — artisans who apprenticed in the old world and engineers who push the limits of modern metal fabrication.

At BALLESTA METAL, craftsmanship is not a marketing word — it is a discipline. Our process begins in the design studio, where CAD models are built with millimeter precision. Then comes the forge, the anvil, the English wheel, the hand-file. We believe that the most beautiful metal surfaces are those finished by a human hand, not a machine. That's why our craftsmen spend years mastering traditional techniques — chasing, repoussé, patination, gold-leaf gilding — before they ever touch a CNC controller. The result is work that has the soul of Old Hollywood and the precision of the 21st century.

Technology Blend: We combine traditional hand-forging and finish work with state-of-the-art CNC routing, waterjet cutting, robotic welding, and 3D laser scanning. This hybrid approach allows us to achieve the organic warmth of handcrafted metal with the repeatability and complexity that modern architecture demands. Our CNC division can produce components with ±0.005" tolerance, while our finishing shop applies patinas and leafing by hand — one square inch at a time.

Architecture That Inspires Us

Los Angeles is not just our home — it is our muse. The city's architectural DNA runs through every piece we create.

From the sunburst grilles of the Wiltern Theatre to the streamlined curves of the Streamline Moderne diners along the historic Route 66, Hollywood's architectural heritage is a masterclass in the emotional power of metal. At BALLESTA METAL, we study these landmarks not as relics but as living references — we visit them, we photograph them, we measure their details, and we translate their spirit into our own designs. The geometry of a 1929 Art Deco railing becomes a CNC program for a Beverly Hills elevator door. The patina on a 1930s copper cornice inspires a custom finish for a Santa Monica restaurant. This is not imitation. It is conversation with the past.

Art Deco (1920s–1930s)

Characterized by geometric sunbursts, chevrons, stepped forms, and bold symmetry. We reinterpret these iconic motifs in custom railings, ceiling panels, and facade elements using brass, bronze, and gold leaf. Landmarks that inspire us: Eastern Columbia Building, Pantages Theatre, Wiltern Theatre.

〰️

Streamline Moderne (1930s–1940s)

Fluid, aerodynamic curves, horizontal lines, and nautical influences. We translate this style into sweeping stainless steel staircases, curved brass balustrades, and smooth chrome-finished fixtures. Landmarks that inspire us: Los Angeles Union Station, Crossroads of the World, Coca-Cola Building.

🌿

Spanish Colonial Revival (1910s–1930s)

Wrought-iron scrollwork, ornate gates, hand-forged grilles, and warm aged-bronze finishes. Our ironwork division specializes in period-accurate restoration and contemporary interpretations. Landmarks that inspire us: Beverly Hills Hotel, Malibu Pier, El Cortez Apartments.

🎞️

Hollywood Regency (1930s–1950s)

Glamorous, theatrical, bold — featuring polished brass, mirrored metals, and dramatic light-catching surfaces. We create bespoke pieces that evoke the golden age of cinema. Landmarks that inspire us: Grauman's Chinese Theatre, Hollywood Palladium, Avalon Hollywood.

Our Values & Philosophy

🔥

Integrity of Craft

We never cut corners. If a joint should be forged, we forge it. If a finish should be hand-polished, we polish it. Our work carries our name — that is enough.

🎭

Hollywood Standard

Everything we make must be worthy of a standing ovation. We set the bar at the highest expectations of the most discerning clients in the world.

🤝

Collaborative Spirit

We are partners to architects, designers, and builders — not just vendors. The best work emerges from deep collaboration and mutual respect.

🌍

Sustainable Stewardship

Metal can last centuries. We source responsibly, minimize waste, and design for durability. A BALLESTA piece should outlive its maker.

Who We Work With

From Los Angeles to New York, our work lives in the places where quality matters most.

At BALLESTA METAL, every client relationship begins the same way — with a conversation about what they love, what they dream of, and what kind of mark they want to leave on the world. We work with private homeowners who treat their residences as personal galleries; with boutique hotels that compete on the strength of their design; with retail brands whose storefronts must stop foot traffic; and with architects who understand that metal is not just a material — it is a statement.

What We Stand For

Our promise to every client, every partner, and every piece that bears our name.

🛡️

Quality Guarantee

Every BALLESTA METAL piece comes with a comprehensive warranty against material defects and workmanship issues. We use only mill-certified metals, industry-leading finishes, and structural-grade fabrication. If a piece does not meet our standard — or yours — we make it right. No questions asked. Our work is built to last generations, not years.

🌱

Sustainability Practices

We believe that fine craftsmanship and environmental responsibility go hand in hand. Our shop recycles 98% of metal scrap. We use low-VOC finishes, water-based patinas, and energy-efficient CNC equipment. We source materials from certified sustainable suppliers whenever possible. Metal can be infinitely recycled — and we treat it as the precious resource it is. Our packaging is 100% recyclable or reusable.

🎬

Hollywood-Standard Craftsmanship

This is our most important promise. Hollywood-standard means that every piece we create must meet the same level of excellence that built the golden-age landmarks of Los Angeles. It means hand-finished surfaces where only hand-finishing will do. It means joints that are invisible, edges that are silky, reflections that are flawless. It means that when you commission BALLESTA METAL, you are not just buying metalwork — you are commissioning a piece of Hollywood's living legacy.
