Army Birthday Events: From the Pentagon to Bases Worldwide
Every June 14, the US Army celebrates its birthday with events at the Pentagon, the National Army Museum, and military installations around the world. From the solemn wreath-laying at Arlington to family-friendly open houses with tank displays and parachute jumps, these events offer Americans a chance to connect with their Army and honor 251 years of service.
🏛️ Pentagon — The Official Ceremony
The Army's highest leadership — including the Secretary of the Army and the Chief of Staff of the Army — host the official birthday ceremony at the Pentagon. The event includes a formal cake-cutting using the traditional saber ceremony, a wreath-laying at the Arlington National Cemetery's Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the posting of the colors by the Old Guard, and the singing of the Army song. The ceremony connects the Pentagon's current leadership to the legacy of 251 years of service.
🏛️ National Army Museum — Family Celebration
The National Museum of the United States Army hosts an all-day birthday festival. The 2025-2026 celebrations feature: US Army Field Band concerts, parachute jumps by the Golden Knights, military working dog demonstrations, Revolutionary War musket firing demos by the Commander-in-Chief's Guard, tank and helicopter displays, the saber cake-cutting ceremony, Army rappers and the Six-String Soldiers, bounce houses and VR simulators for kids, and food trucks serving BBQ and classic American fare. Admission is free; tickets required.
